Land and soil are enormously valuable resources. They are in a conflict of use between the common good and personal interests, construction activity, production, agriculture, recreation and nature conservation. The lecture highlights the areas of conflict and discusses current approaches to land management in Austria.

Arthur Kanonier is a trained spatial planner, Professor of Land Policy and Land Management at the Vienna University of Technology and Chairman of the Austrian Society for Spatial Planning.
