Circular Carbon and Mushroom Cycles
BASEhabitat Lecture Series

Dr. Robert Koeppe has a background in Physics, Materials Science and Entrepreneurship combined with a second identity as activist member of Scientists4Future. He is currently working as CEO of a sensor technology startup as well as leading a small research group in the field of mycelium materials at JKU Linz.

The talk starts with some considerations about the basic carbon cycles on our planet and their impact on the ongoing catastrophic climate changes. In the second part, the impact of biogenic material use on these carbon cycles and the implications on production, use and disposal of products is described. Finally, an exemplary climate positive product cycle with construction materials based on mushroom mycelium is presented.
