Fungi, as the third macroscopic life-form besides plants and animals, have shaped our planet much more than supposed. Fungi can transform, connect and reshape organic material. Robert Koeppe, head researcher at the Department for Soft Matter Physics at the JKU Linz, is experimenting with new sustainable building materials based on fungi and plant fibres.
